  6. The Commodore-64 Programmer's Library
  7. was originally meant to be published
  8. as  a book by Wayne Green Publishing,
  9. publishers of Kilobaud Magazine - who
  10. published my PETpourri column in the
  11. very early Commodore years.
  12.  
  13. Just before going to print, after all
  14. the proof reading and editing were
  15. finalized the publisher was bought by
  16. another company and the book was
  17. cancelled.

  19. A close friend of mine, Jim Oldfield,
  20. who published the Midnite Gazette for
  21. Commodore users, help me self publish
  22. the material on floppy disks through
  23. a distributor in IL for a few years.
  24. Eventually interest diminished & the
  25. package was taken off the market.

  27. Just recently I found the original
  28. Proof copies for the book and the
  29. accompanying floppy disks, and decided
  30. to try and make the information
  31. available for anyone interested. It's
  32. now available from my simple website
  33. or on eBay for a very modest fee to
  34. help cover my internet costs and
  35. maintain ownership of the material.

  49. computer industry database that was
  50. published for years on AOL, on CD
  51. from EMS and in print by No Starch
  52. Press. And Omnigraphics used my data
  53. to help publish their own computer
  54. industry reference books for libraries

  56. The Package
  57. This package includes many of my
  58. early original magazine articles,
  59. programs and programming ideas for the
  60. Commodore 64 that appeared in various
  61. Commodore related magazines of the
  62. 1970's and 1980's when I was writing
  63. the PETpourri column for Kilobaud
  64. Microcomputing magazine. A fair amount
  65. of the material was originally written
  66. for the Commodore PET and CBM systems,
  67. then rewritten and updated for the
  68. VIC-20, Commodore-64 and Commodore-128
  69. systems.

  71. The 10MB C64ProgLib.zip file contains
  72. a number of Adobe Acrobat (.pdf)
  73. files that can be easily viewed and
  74. printed, either directly from this
  75. website or after downloading to your
  76. local hard drive. Program listings are
  77. included but actual loadable programs
  78. are not included in this file.

  80. The 273KB C64ProgLibD64.zip file
  81. contains standard D64 disk image
  82. files for each of the three 1541
  83. floppy disks distributed in the
  84. original package. Two disks provide
  85. electronic copies of all the
  86. documentation files included in the
  87. first zip archive while the third disk
  88. provides loadable copies of all the
  89. actual program files.

  92. access the actual files included in
  93. the archives and those passwords will
  94. be emailed to you after payment is
  95. received.

  113. includes standard D64 disk image
  114. files for the three 1541 floppy disks
  115. distributed in the original Commodore-
  116. 64 Programmer's Library package. Two
  117. of the disks provide copies of all the
  118. printed documentation files while the
  119. third disk provides all the loadable
  120. program files plus sample data files
  121. There are also three text files
  122. included that provide copies of the
  123. directories of these three floppy disk
  124. images plus a copy of the original
  125. package label in another Adobe Acrobat
  126. (.pdf) file as well. Additional Adobe
  127. Acrobat (.pdf) files providing scanned
  128. copies of all the printed documentation
  129. files plus program listings are
  130. provided in a separate Zip archive.

  145. ideas written over several years so
  146. there is no specific theme to this
  147. package. However, I tried to organize
  148. the material into useful sections
  149. that hopefully make it easierto digest
  150. This package was originally written
  151. to be published as a book but the deal
  152. fell through at the last minute. The
  153. package was eventually distributed in
  154. electronic form on diskette by a
  155. publisher in Illinois for several
  156. years. By the way, a copy of the
  157. original cover label is included in a
  158. separate Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) file in
  159. this package.

  161. Just recently I came across the
  162. original printed manuscript for this
  163. package and decided to scan the
  164. material into an Acrobat file and make
  165. it available again to anyone
  166. interested. Those files are available
  167. in a separate download file. This
  168. package includes D64 disk image files
  169. for each of the three original 1541
  170. format floppy disks. Two disks provide
  171. the original text files for the book
  172. while the third file provides all the
  173. original program files in loadable
  174. form plus a simple utility to print
  175. the text files for the book.
